AVBA’s Principals and Corporate Officers

_______________________________________________________________________________

We proudly present AVBA’s Principals and the Officers of our Corporation who serve and do this work in appreciation of, and respect for all of our honored Veterans, those Military Service Members without whom we would not have the freedoms and American way of life we all take for granted. It is AVBA’s way of paying it forward.

Paul F.  Valles – President / CEO / Senior Awards Advisor

With ” only ” 35 years of bona fides in his career history, Paul Valles is our newest member volunteer of American Veterans’ Benefits Alliances Executive Team, having joined our Non-Profit in 2023 and very effectively adding to AVBA‘s set of Veterans’ services, because of his 2professional credentials ~

● California Department of Real Estate – Brokers’ License ( Purchase, Sales, Mortgage Advisement )

● California Contractors’ Licensing Board – General Contractor’s License

Hailing form the San Fernando Valley just outside of Los Angeles, Mr Valles is a Graduate of Cal State Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Paul  comes from an extended family of Veterans.  His Grandfather served in both World Wars 1 and 2 and his Father served in Vietnam ; his two Uncles in Operation Desert Storm. He now serves with us here at AVBA to honor those heroes.

Mr Valles’ extensive Real Estate and Construction experience includes re-models,” Ground Up ” Home builds, Duplex-Triplex and Four-plex construction. Paul recently completed a property tear-down, ground up construction of a brand new 22 unit apartment building in Woodland Hills, CA. He handled every single phase of this project from permits to tear down the 1940’s house, complete design of the complex, getting the Environmental Impact Report, having to deal with special permits required for the building’s two- story underground parking structure, special permits to route the dump trucks’ removal of the excavated dirt, special permits for the roof–top lounge area, personal design and installation of the advanced Security System and Smart Phone controlled building, garage and individual apartments’ lighting / sound systems.   Throughout his career, he has assisted scores  of Veterans with the Home purchase, repairs, remodels as well as VA loans and VA Re-Fi’s.

Currently, Paul and our Founder, Anthony Hoffman ( see Anthony’s Bio below ! )Are working on the formation of a special alliance with several companies who specialize in the install of those small housing units known as Accessory Dwelling Units with the goal of helping more homeless Veterans in the Los Angeles area findhousing.

Additionally, because of his dual Construction / Real Estate backgrounds, he will be assisting our CFO / Sr Awards Advisor, Sam Liotta in counseling qualifying Veteranswith certain permanent, Service Connected Disabilities to learn about and make applications among the VA’s 3 very little-known grant programs relating to  Americans’ Disabilities Act home modifications mentioned at bottom of Mr Liotta’s Bio, below.

Robert has also been involved directly with Veterans, working closely through a family project to help homeless and transitioning Veterans, disabled people and seniors. This project, called Brandon’s Battalion, is named after Robert’s Marine Veteran nephew, Brandon Berrellez. Brandon passed away at the age of 23 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, suffering from PTSD. He was a two tour veteran of the conflict in Afghanistan, and his two brothers also served in the Marines. Robert has been committed to helping veterans and the homeless with programs such as no-cost apartment cleaning, no-cost manicure and pedicure services in the home for disabled and seniors who cannot pay, no-cost furniture, kitchenware and glassware for transitioning homeless who find new housing and who have proven to be drug free and aspire to a new beginning. Robert began his career in International Sales and Importing. He was a designing and marketing executive in the developing Audio/Video Industry of the 1980s. He established a line of audio/video cables and connectors called “Koala Kables”, later sold to the Monster Cable Company. Robert founded an Importing company to market a line of Video Tape Rewinding Machines exclusively through the Top Video dealerships in Southern California/Nevada/Arizona. He designed and developed the first “Auto Winder” video tape rewinder that looked like an American Classic Automobile where the VHS video tape was inserted via the opened car hood. He continued his Marketing and Sales career throughout the 1980s and 1990s, training sales representatives and establishing personality recognition techniques used in marketing insurance and mortgage products for Brokers, Direct Lenders and Banks. Later in his career, using his strong contacts with the Mortgage Industry, Robert became a corporate officer with Mortgage Lenders and Corporate Real Estate Brokers. Working mainly in Underwriting and Processing, Robert established himself as a preeminent expert on specialty mortgages such as VA Loans, Reverse Mortgage, Specialty Financed, & Jumbo (non-conforming) loans.

As of late, Robert has been the caregiver of his 90 year-old parents for the past four years. Suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, both were cared for by Robert in at-home hospice, & both recently passed away from natural causes within the same 30 day period. This life-changing experience has given Robert a unique and valuable perspective on seniors, caregiving, estate planning, hospice care, and the costs therein, both monetary and emotional. Robert continues his work though the family project, and looks forward to continuing with helping Veterans, the disabled, homeless, and seniors.
